Saint Cloche Gallery is a contemporary art gallery and concept space in Sydney’s Paddington art district with a mission to support the work of established artists, whilst also providing a nurturing platform to champion fresh, emerging talent and present their ideas to the world.

Since opening in January 2015, we believe Saint Cloche Gallery, has established a unique place for artists to explore their creativity and for its loyal audience to be touched by emotions and stories that relate to our shared humanity – this is the philosophy of the gallery. The Saint Cloche culture is communal and collaborative, and we embrace the whole creative process with our artists from concept through to installation. Apart from hosting the annual Little Things Art Prize, which is supported by the Woollahra Council, we have gained a reputation for curating large, themed exhibitions which seek to provide a platform to elevate the work of new emerging artists.

In 2018 we expanded to include an additional gallery project space, Saint Cloche Upstairs, to enable additional, more intimate shows and workshops within the exhibition schedule. In 2019 we debuted at Sydney Contemporary with a solo presentation of popular, emerging artist Evi O which was very well received and sold out.

Saint Cloche Gallery is evolving and growing and now has a stable of artists we represent, using a number of different avenues to find new talent – email submissions with a strong portfolio of work and artist statement, social media, the web and trusted curators. It is important that artists who work with us understand the gallery’s aesthetic and mission – I find a lot of artists apply without having visited or even read about the gallery. Research is key.

When it comes to curating an exhibition it’s important to me that it tells a story and has a narrative to engage the viewer. Curating is my own personal art form. For group shows I look towards the past, present and future for inspiration, lots of research goes into developing our concepts. A detailed brief is then given to a carefully selected group of artists for a contemporary interpretation of the concept. For larger group exhibitions it can take up to six months of planning.
